Academic Seminar on the Construction and Development of the Discipline of Foreign Languages and Literature in the Greater Bay Area" was held from June 30 to July 2 in Huadu District. More than 100 experts and scholars from a number of domestic universities gathered in Huadu to discuss the construction and development of the discipline of foreign languages and literature.

　　The academic seminar was hosted by the Cognitive Linguistics Professional Committee of China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese and organized by Guangdong Peizheng College.

　　Professor Huang Guowen of South China Agricultural University, Professor Shu Dingfang of Shanghai International Studies University, Professor Ran Yongping of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Professor Zhang Hui of Nanjing Normal University, Professor Zhao Junfeng of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Professor Dai Shulan, subject leader of Foreign Languages and Literature, a key discipline of Guangdong Peizheng College, and Professor Zhan Xiuqin, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Guangdong Peizheng College, delivered keynote speeches at the event.

　　In addition to the theme of the event, the construction and development of the discipline of foreign languages and literature, the conference also set up five sub-forums, including "cognitive linguistics and corpus", "cognitive linguistics and foreign language teaching", "foreign language teaching" and "discourse analysis and translation", where scholars and teachers conducted intense discussions, exchanged academic views, and actively made proposals for the development of foreign language discipline.

　　The seminar positively contributed to promote the further development of diversification and scientificization of foreign languages research in China, and played a positive role in the study of how to serve the overall development strategy of the Greater Bay Area through discipline construction.
